JOB DESCRIPTION
The Mechanical Designer will generate detailed engineering change documentation and drawings of production and prototype designs, incorporating input from existing change documentation, CAD models, and direction from engineering staff. The ideal candidate will have experience with PTC CREO, selection and application of GD&T, drawing reviews, configuration management requirements, and preparation of drawings and models for integration into a PLM database such as PTC Windchill. Experience designing manufacturing assembly aids is a plus. Experience with component-level design and application of GD&T.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create, update, and modify mechanical drawings from existing CAD models using PTC CREO
- Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions.
- Update drawing and procedure revisions with information from existing engineering change documentation
- Generate engineering drawing review documentation and packages
- Prepare computer-aided design (CAD) models and drawings for incorporation into an ERP system or PLM database
- Support the technical support and engineering teams
- Survey existing equipment and systems to create as-built drawings for future reference
- Convert existing designs from Solidworks to PTC CREO format
- Experience with designing low-level test fixturing and using mechanical analysis tools
- Experience with component-level design and capturing design intent in manufacturing drawings
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor Degree in Mechanical or Associate Degree in Design or Equivalent
- 2-3 years of experience as Draftsman. Experience in Mechanical design is preferred
- Proficient in Solidworks and or PTC Pro Engineer or CREO
- Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Adobe
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Follows directions and willing to learn
- Must be capable of working effectively in a team setting while handling the personal workload.
- Experience with working with manufacturing, engineering, and technical staff
